Filming is currently underway in the Atlanta area for The Breadwinner, a new comedy from TriStar Pictures. The project is co-written by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze and Dan Lagana, with Bargatze set to star in what will be his first leading role in a feature film. Both Bargatze and Lagana are producing the film, alongside Jeremy Latcham, who is producing through his company Wonder Project.

Who's in It?
Eric Appel is directing the film, which features an ensemble cast including Will Forte, Colin Jost (who is famously married to Scarlett Johanson), Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Cherry, Kate Berlant, and Martin Herlihy. Mandy Moore is playing Bargatze’s on-screen wife. The story follows Bargatze’s character, a lifelong breadwinner who becomes a stay-at-home dad after his wife secures a deal on Shark Tank.
Moore, recognized for her role on NBC’s This Is Us and as the voice of Rapunzel in Disney’s Tangled, also appears in Hulu’s animated series Happy Family USA and Peacock’s Dr. Death.
Additional cast members include Stella Grace Fitzgerald (Rebel Moon), Birdie Borria (The Fabelmans), and Charlotte Ann Tucker (Thunderbolts), who play the couple’s daughters. Background casting for the film is being managed by Rose Locke Casting, based in Atlanta.
Bargatze is currently on his Be Funny global tour and was recently named the top-earning comedian in the world by Pollstar. He has released multiple Netflix specials, including The Tennessee Kid and Greatest Average American, the latter of which was nominated for a Grammy.
Kumail Nanjiani, who also stars in the film, previously appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Star Wars limited series on Disney+.
