Marvel’s Agatha All Along is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 18, and fans of WandaVision will finally get to see Kathryn Hahn reprise her role as Agatha Harkness. The series, filmed in and around Atlanta, Georgia, continues the tradition of Marvel using the state as a key location for many of its productions. Although Marvel seems to be shifting many of it’s productions to London for future productions.
Agatha All Along has had a unique development process. While the series took about three years to make, its multiple title changes were not due to typical production issues. In fact, the show’s executive producer, Mary Livanos, revealed that the title changes were part of an inside joke orchestrated by the writers. What started as Agatha: House of Harkness, announced back in 2021, eventually transformed into Agatha: Coven of Chaos in 2022 and later Agatha: Darkhold Diaries in 2023. Perhaps the most playful of these names, Agatha: The Lying Witch with The Great Wardrobe, briefly appeared online before being swiftly deleted.
The decision to change the titles multiple times wasn’t a result of focus groups or indecision—it was just the creative team having a bit of fun. Jac Shaeffer, the showrunner, and the writing team enjoyed brainstorming these alternate titles as part of a prank on Marvel fans. The final name, Agatha All Along, references the popular song from WandaVision, solidifying its connection to the original series.
The series filmed under the code name “LLC,” which is common code many Marvel/Disney productions to maintain secrecy during filming. Fans in Georgia may have noticed the activity, especially when filming took place at North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia – many people reported hearing screaming coming from the mall area during filming.
Agatha All Along is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with the first two episodes dropping on that day. The remaining seven episodes will be released weekly, leading up to the finale on November 6.
