Netflix Orders Tessa Thompson-Led Psychological Thriller His & Hers, Filming in Georgia

Netflix has officially greenlit His & Hers, a tantalizing psychological thriller limited series featuring Tessa Thompson in the lead role. The streaming giant has ordered a six-episode run of the series, which is adapted from Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel and will be filming in Georgia.

Tessa Thompson

In this upcoming series, Thompson—known for her standout performances in Creed, Thor, and Westworld—takes on the dual roles of star and executive producer. She will be joined by Jessica Chastain, who also serves as an executive producer through her Freckle Films banner. The series is set against the backdrop of Atlanta, Georgia, where local casting opportunities are available. Hylton Casting will be seeking background actors and stand-ins for the show.

William Oldroyd, acclaimed for his films Lady Macbeth and Eileen, is making his television writing and directing debut with His & Hers. Oldroyd, alongside Bill Dubuque—co-creator of the Emmy-winning Ozark—will serve as writers and executive producers for the series. Dubuque’s notable credits include the screenplays for The Accountant and The Judge, and he will also handle executive production duties.

What is His & Hers About?

The series will be set in Atlanta, Georgia following Anna (Thompson), a journalist living in isolation. Her world shifts dramatically when she hears about a murder in Dahlonega, her quaint hometown in north Georgia. Compelled to investigate, Anna finds herself under the scrutiny of Detective Jack Harper, who becomes suspicious of her involvement. As the investigation unfolds, the show explores the concept that “there are two sides to every story: his and hers, which means someone is always lying.”

Dee Johnson, known for her work on ER, The Good Wife, and Fellow Travelers, will be the showrunner and executive producer, in addition to writing for the series. Joining the executive producer team are Kristen Campo of Campout Productions, Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films, and Kishori Rajan of Viva Maude. Fifth Season, where Dubuque is under an overall deal, is the studio behind the production.
