What the Show Is About
Free Bert stars Bert Kreischer as a fictionalized version of himself — a stuntman and wild TV personality who gets fired from his Jackass-style show after bad-mouthing the network execs on a hot mic. The fallout leads to his family relocating to Beverly Hills so his daughters can attend an elite private school called Barklidge — which is where things really start to go sideways. Kreischer’s loud, unfiltered personality clashes hard with the wealthy, image-conscious parents around him, and the family quickly becomes the social outcasts of their new neighborhood. It’s a broad, loud, and frequently funny family comedy that plays well across generational lines — which is probably why Netflix moved quickly on a renewal.
Season one premiered on January 22, 2026 and landed in Netflix’s Global Top 10 within its first two weeks, reaching 6th place and racking up 6.9 million views. That was enough for Netflix to greenlight season two.
The Cast
Bert Kreischer leads the series as himself — or a version of himself. If you’re not familiar, Kreischer is one of the most recognizable names in stand-up comedy right now. He has five Netflix specials to his name, including Hey Big Boy, Razzle Dazzle, and Checklist, and has built a massive following through his podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave with Tom Segura. He’s best known for “The Machine” story — if you know, you know — which was eventually turned into a feature film of the same name.
Arden Myrin plays LeeAnn, Bert’s wife. Myrin is a veteran comedy actress best known for Orange Is the New Black and Chelsea Lately, and her chemistry with Kreischer is one of the highlights of the first season.
Ava Ryan and Lilou Lang play Georgia and Ila, Bert’s daughters. Mandell Maughan and Chris Witaske play Chanel and Landon Vanderthal, the wealthy neighbors whose world Bert keeps disrupting. Braxton Alexander and Matthew Del Negro play Zac and Randy Hotchkiss, and Christine Horn plays Headmaster Rossmyre — the long-suffering administrator trying to keep Bert at arm’s length from school affairs.
Former NFL cornerback Pacman Jones also appears as himself — a fun casting touch that fits right in with the show’s irreverent tone.
The Showrunners and Creative Team
Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul serve as showrunners and head writers. The two previously collaborated on The Grinder and Huge in France and wrote the Jim Carrey film Yes Man. Their writing style is sharp, absurdist, and character-driven — a good fit for Kreischer’s unfiltered persona.
On the producing side, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns of Jax Media are attached. If those names don’t ring a bell, their credits will — Hernandez and Burns produced Nathan For You, How To with John Wilson, and The Rehearsal for HBO. Their involvement is a signal that this isn’t just a vanity project built around a comedian’s name — there’s real creative craft behind it.
Judi Marmel, Kreischer’s longtime manager and producer, is also on board, alongside LeeAnn Kreischer and Elise Henderson as executive producers. Counterpart Studios and Levity Live are co-producing, with Netflix serving as both studio and distributor.

When Can We See Season Two?
With filming wrapping by the end of July, a late 2026 Netflix premiere looks very possible — roughly in line with the January 2026 debut of season one. No official premiere date has been announced yet, but given Netflix’s track record with this show, don’t expect a long wait after production wraps.
