In Dear Santa, a young boy makes a simple yet significant spelling error: he addresses his Christmas wish list to “Satan” instead of “Santa.” This mishap summons none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, portrayed by Jack Black. Rather than bringing terror, Satan decides to grant the boy three wishes, becoming his unconventional sidekick. But there’s a catch—after the third wish, Satan aims to claim the boy’s soul. Interestingly, the concept for Dear Santa has been in development for over a decade. Dan Ewen’s spec screenplay was originally purchased in 2012 under the title Dear Satan. After years of refinement, the project found its footing, with Bobby Farrelly directing solo this time around.
