At Netflix’s Tudum 2025 fan event on May 31, the streaming platform officially announced that the fifth and final season of Georgia filmed Stranger Things will premiere in three parts starting this fall. The announcement came with a new teaser and detailed the release schedule for all eight episodes. All five seasons of Stranger Things were filmed in Georgia, showcasing the state’s central role in the production of one of Netflix’s most successful series. You can watch the teaser below.

The Plot for Season 5
Season 5 picks up with a time jump to the fall of 1987. Hawkins, Indiana is now under military quarantine, and the government has intensified its search for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance nears, an ominous feeling grows among the town’s residents.
Netflix’s official synopsis states:
“The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
Final Season Dates
The final season rollout includes three volumes:
- Volume 1 (Episodes 1–4): November 26, 2025 (Thanksgiving Eve) at 8:00 p.m. ET
- Volume 2 (Episodes 5–7): December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day) at 8:00 p.m. ET
- Volume 3 (Episode 8, the finale): December 31, 2025 (New Year’s Eve) at 8:00 p.m. ET
This staggered release will span across three major U.S. holidays — Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve — culminating in the series finale just before 2026.
The Teaser
Before the reveal, Stranger Things stars Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard looked back on their journey with the show, which debuted on Netflix on July 15, 2016. Joined by pre-recorded messages from co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Millie Bobby Brown, the cast reflected on the show’s legacy before unveiling a Season 5 teaser.
The teaser begins with a voiceover from Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder): “I think about that night all the time. The night it came for you … the night all of this started.” Viewers are shown a rapid montage of major moments from the series — including the discovery of Eleven, the infamous Christmas lights, and the group’s encounters with the Upside Down. In the final moments of the teaser, Will and his friends are shown preparing for their final confrontation with Vecna.
Shawn Levy, a longtime executive producer and director on Stranger Things, is currently developing a new Star Wars film for Lucasfilm, currently titled Star Wars: Starfighter. While details of that project remain under wraps, it is rumored to be set 5 years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
