What the Film Is About
Anne Hathaway stars alongside Ewan McGregor, with the film set for a theatrical release in North America on August 14. Variety The cast also includes Maisy Stella and Christian Convery. Keith Loves Movies The official synopsis describes it as a family survival story: after a mysterious cosmic event transports their entire neighborhood to an unknown location, the Platt family has to figure out how to survive and stick together in surroundings they no longer recognize.
The trailer keeps things fairly cryptic, but it does reveal that the family finds themselves being chased through the remains of their suburban street by dinosaurs. Warner Bros. has deliberately kept the bigger picture of the story under wraps, and the trailer seems more interested in setting a tone than explaining the plot.
The Creative Team
The film is written and directed by David Robert Mitchell, who is working with a studio budget for the first time in his career, with J.J. Abrams producing through his Bad Robot label. IndieWire Mitchell is best known for the 2014 horror film It Follows. The behind-the-camera team includes composer Michael Giacchino and director of photography Michael Gioulakis. Variety
