Mark your calendars for August 8, 2025 — that’s when Weapons, the latest mystery-horror thriller from filmmaker Zach Cregger, is set to premiere. Written, directed, and produced by Cregger, the film follows a small town shaken by the sudden and unexplained disappearance of 17 children overnight.

The cast is led by Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich. Julia Garner may be best known for playing Ruth in Ozark (BTW, Ozark’s best episode was season 4 episode 3 at the 36 minute mark.) Alden Ehrenreich is probably best known for his portrayal of Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Rounding out the cast is Austin Abrams, alongside Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.
Weapons was filmed in Georgia during the summer of 2024 under the working title WPNS. Background casting was handled by Rose Locke Casting, a familiar name in Georgia’s film industry.
With its chilling premise and strong ensemble, Weapons promises to be one of 2025’s most talked-about horror releases.
