The latest trailer for Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts*’ (asterisk included) has been released, providing a detailed look at the upcoming film, which was shot in and around Atlanta under the code name “Oops All Berries” (you may have seen the signs with “Oops”). The trailer, which runs just over three minutes, features several returning characters from previous MCU films and introduces new elements that hint at the direction of the story.
The film brings together a group of former antagonists, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who is shown reconnecting with her father, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), early in the trailer. The team, assembled by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), includes characters such as John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). These characters have, by their own admission, done questionable things, which may be part of what brings them together in this new mission.
One notable new addition to the team is Bob, played by Lewis Pullman. While Marvel has not officially confirmed it, the trailer strongly suggests that Bob is the MCU’s version of Sentry, a powerful character from the comics. The trailer includes subtle hints, such as a black and gold disc at the 2:48 mark that resembles the emblem associated with Sentry.
Thunderbolts is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
The trailer provides a glimpse into the potential dynamics of this group as they face unknown challenges and a possible enemy. Further trailers may clarify whether Valentina is their antagonist or their leader, but the initial footage focuses on the team learning to work together.
Filmed primarily in Atlanta, the movie is expected to have a significant impact on the next phase of the MCU.
